Milestone 2 will receive the Android 2.3 update in early Q4, says Motorola

Although it’s been a while since the latest Android OS has hit the market, it seems that carriers and developers alike are stuck in the delivering area. Motorola is one of the cellphone giants that has troubles and wants to wash a portion of the shame by creating expectations. This one is targeted for Motorola Milestone 2 owners that linger for the official Gingerbread update. It seems the OTA will hit Europe sometime in early Q4 ( 2011 we hope ), the official date being country dependent. Motorola’s officials also stated that more information will be available as the deadline approaches.

As you know, the Milestone 2 is the European flavor of the Motorola Droid 2. The QWERTY “beast” that made a lousy job as a sequel, being launched a bit too late for the smartphone market, a market filed with great competitors like the Desire Z. The phone was released with Android 2.2 Froyo in September 2010, the same period when Gingerbread appeared on the scene. A year after, this phone still has the same dusted OS and Motorola officials throw out an upgrade interval as big as it could be. It’s not like Google purchased Motorola or something like that…

The announcement was made on the official Motorola Europe Facebook page, just a couple of minutes ago. We certainly expect date-on information in the near future and why not, even delays.
