We all know that the best tablet out there is the  Apple iPad. But this is about to change, because Asus is coming strong, to impress the gadget world with the 10.1″ EP101TC EeePad. It is true, we will have to wait until the beginning of the next year, because then is the Asus EeePad release date, but I’m sure it’s worth. Anyway, the news only now begins: Asus had decided to drop the idea of using Windows EC7 as OS for its upcoming tablet, in favor of the  Android platform for the EeePad.

The reason was simple: Asus considered that Google’s platform is better than Microsoft’s Windows. We don’t know yet what version of Android it would be used, but as we heard, Asus will choose between Android 2.2 Froyo and Android 3.0 Gingerbread. I think that Froyo will be used for the prototype and Gingerbread for the final version, as they will try to impress all the critics.

If you are not familiar with the Asus tablet here are some details: the EeePad specs will include a CULV Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor, video conferences and offers two convenient modes of character input-an embedded virtual keyboard or innovative hybrids keyboard/docking station design.

But if that is not enough to please you, the tablet has a 12″ display, 0.3 megapixel webcam, stereo speakers, SIM slot, “Polymer Battery” and we can go on all day. It is a beautiful piece of technology. If Asus made a good choice by dumping Windows for the Android OS, we will have to wait and see. One fact is sure: the Apple iPad, finally has an real opponent, the Android powered Asus EeePad.
