It seems Google acts a bit like Santa Claus lately, spreading all of his Android 2.2 updates as soon as possible, to all those capable of running them. The original Motorola Droid is one of them. Verizon has announced that the Motorola Droid update to Android 2.2 ( Froyo ) will be sent in the next week to smartphones worldwide. We hint that it will actually hit in the same time as the HTC EVO 4G update.
What does the Android 2.2 update mean for Motorola Droid ? Well, it will surely speed up the phone, as market competitors now have 1GHz running processors, clearly out speeding the plain old 512 MHz of the Droid. In addition, it will also allow Motorola Droid to run Flash 10.1, making it one of the oldest phones capable of such performance.
Other updates relate to the browser version, the ability to move an app from the phone to the SD card and other apps updates. We must note that this is an official Verizon update and it contains just the old school package. No bonus features, no widgets added, just the “plain” Froyo features.

Motorola Droid Android 2.2 ( Froyo ) release date
As for the European version of the Motorola Droid, the Milestone, we also have news of joy. The Froyo update is scheduled to be sent soon, but we do not know the exact date.
