The LG Optimus 2X, also known as the G2X around T-Mobile’s circles, has been finally announced to receive a major OS update. Yes, indeed, we are talking about Android 2.3, Gingerbread. The update is going to be served using an over-the-air method or, if you don’t like to wait, LG has a nice fancy tool to make the process even faster. The update will basically upgrade the Android operating system to 2.3 and enhance the smartphone with all those juicy features. Besides it, you will receive some bonus cakes from T-Mobile, like: improved battery life, an easier approach when you were trying to disable car mode, support for unexpected reboots and others.
You can check if the Gingerbread update has reached your T-Mobile G2X by going to Settings-> About Phone -> System Updates. If not, a step-by-step method is available here, along with the full explanations on how to prepare the phone before jumping the cookie wagon. Also, the full list of improvements can be viewed here.
The official announcement was made on the T-Mobile FaceBook page and can be viewed in the image below. Welcome to the family guys.
