ASUS, one the largest computer manufacturers in the world has announced, back at CES 2011, a nice Slate that is going under the name of ASUS Eee Slate EP121. Although most of the details about its specs are already last day’s news the release date for the UK market has only recently appeared on the internet. Find out when to expect this ASUS tablet and about its price if you live in the UK by reading the lines below.
Even though the official release date for this tablet is supposed to be April the 20th, the ASUS Eee Slate EP121 will be available as soon as the 10th of April from the Amazon store. Pre orders can be placed at any time but it is the price tag that seems to be the biggest hurdle in the slate’s patch for success. Amazon has listed the ASUS Eee Slate EP121 at a staggering £999.99. At this price you get free delivery but you can get a much more powerful laptop or even two second generation iPads for the same amount of money.

Just as a reminder, the hard earned £999.99 will go on some high end specs if you choose the ASUS tablet. For that money you will get a 12.1 LED backlit capacitive touchscreen powered by an Intel Core i5 470UM running at 1.3 GHz with the well known integrated Intel HD Graphics. The tablet will also pack 4 GB of DDR3 memory along a nice 64 GB SSD. These features will allow for a spotless performance under Windows 7. Not Windows Phone 7, but the real desktop Windows 7 operating system. Find out more about the Asus Eee Slate Ep121 by reading this.
In the article above we mentioned an official release date for the US market but it seems that date isn’t yet very clear as the Amazon US sister page of the ASUS Eee Slate EP121 still has no availability date mentioned. That page does however mention a $1,100 price tag which is way less than the price asked in the UK for the same device.
If you fancy a tablet running on the good old Windows platform and you can make use of the digitizer you may want to look into this ASUS tablet a big more thoroughly, and if you can afford the price tag, even consider buying one.
