Motorola Android 2.3 Battery Drain Bug Fixed!

If you have a Motorola made smart phone running on the now old Android 2.3 Gingerbread you might have been unfortunate enough to run into the battery drainage bug caused by something as simple as the Daylight Saving Time. As you already know, the U.S. have switched back to standard time this last weekend and this change seems to have a rather unpleasant effect on a lot of Motorola made Android devices.

Fortunately, the fix for this abnormal battery drain is just as easy as pushing one button. Motorola has informed via its Twitter page that in order to fix this software bug all you have to do is restart your phone. So far the bug seems to mostly affect Motorola Atrix devices, but the little bit of code behind all this mess is present on other devices too.

If you have an older handset that does not officially support Android 2.3 Gingerbread you are in luck, as this bug is not present in earlier software.

I guess this is the price we pay for the ever increasing complexity of the software inside our devices. People responsible for the software might start to overlook simple things like the DST time changes, and focus more on the multimedia software for example, and this might lead to exactly the type of bug found in the newer Motorola devices.
