During this step by step guide you will be able to learn the easiest way in which you can backup the Advent Vega tablet. You will learn how to save your data, apps and any other personal info stored on its internal storage memory, or on its SD card (this for avoiding any unpleasant situations). In order to succeed, you have to download some tools from the Android Market (I will talk about them a little bit later), which are designed especially for making the backup process easier and quicker.
It’s important to know that it is necessary to learn how to backup the Advent Vega data if you want to make some changes in its system. In case you didn’t know, your personal info can be wiped up each time you decide to install, or add something new on your device. The same will happen if you want to update the operating system or make more complicated operations, like: rooting, installing a custom recovery image, or flashing a custom ROM (such as CyanogenMod). All these tasks are meant to power up the performances of your gadget, so as you can tell, the backup procedure is no longer an option for you.

The Advent Vega tablet
Now, as I was saying in the introduction, in order to make our job easier and to speed things up, you will have to get some apps from the Android Market. The tools are free distributed, therefore you don’t have to pay anything for access them. Also, don’t be afraid, it’s 100% safe, your Vega being in safe hands. The first app you will use is the Android cloud. Then, I recommend you to use the Astro File Manager, or the Titanium backup (you will need root access in order to use this one). Beside these, you can use a Windows / Linux / MAC running computer, where you can temporary save the data from your tablet.
The cloud it’s an backup service coming from Android that allows you to copy your data to the remote “cloud” storage, offering an intuitive one click backup / restore operation. Therefore, it’s not an app, being a service provided and developed by Google for its Android users, being supported for both smartphones and as in our case, tablets. It’s my favorite because it’s easy to use and to understand; for using it you must sync with Google; when you will want the data to be restored on your Advent Vega you will just have to sync once more and that’s it (further aspects are detailed during the steps).
Then, the Astro File Manager will be perfect for saving the apps from your device. It doesn’t require root access, so it is more suitable for you. That being told, we can now start the proper how to guide. Read all my explanations and in the end, if something goes wrong, share the issues with us so we can help you through.

Contacts and Calendar
The best way in which you can save the info about your friends, employees, family, work buddies, and so on, is by using the Android cloud. As I was saying, in order to use this, you must sync with Google; just follow:
- Go to: Menu->Settings-> Accounts & sync; choose “Add account”; enter a valid Gmail address and then choose what you want to backup.
Google Docs, Contacts, Gmail and Calendar is available for you, meaning that you can save whatever you need to. The operating system will make a copy of your data and when you will want it back you will have to sync once more.
Saving Market Apps
In this section, you need to download the Astro File Manager tool. It’s free distributed, so just get it. Then follow the steps:
- Open Astro.
- Press Menu.
- Tap on Tools.
- Select the Application Manager / Backup.
- Select the apps you want to save and click Backup.
- In order to restore them, install Astro again and follow the same steps. Then, click “Backed Up Apps” and choose what you want back on your tablet.
Saving Data
Finally, saving the data; well, for this part you can use the cloud, the SD card, or the computer (Windows/MAC/Linux). For the cloud you must redo the steps explained on our first section.
- For the SD card and the PC/MAC just copy/paste (drag and drop) the stuffs you want to backup from the Advent Vega on the computer/MAC/SD card. When you want the data restored do exactly the same thing, but starting from the end (PC/SD card/ MAC->tablet). That’s it.
